We stayed at the beautiful Villa Orselina. This place is close to Ascona and Locarno with the famous Piazza Grande and is an ideal base to explore the valleys. There's also a cable-car to Cardada and Cimetta with splendid views of Lago Maggiore. From the hotel it was only a short walk for sunrise at this spot with a good view of the illuminated church of Orselina, the lake and the mountains in the background.
