A beautiful mountain pass

 

The ancient cobble road with its 24 hairpin bends is a true marvel! This road was built between 1828 and 1832. Before that, it was a mule track. Imagine an army of 20'000 Russian soldiers and their horses marching up the mountain and fighting against the French army at the top of this mountain pass. Nowadays, it's a cyclist and biker's paradise.
