Verzasca Valley - Ticino

Another world in Switzerland

The second well known valley, Verzasca, is a bit smaller but not less beautiful. There's a 22 km drive up to Sonogno from the Diga di Verzasca, a 220m high dam. It’s here you can do the Golden Eye James Bond jump if you are brave enough! Further up into the valley you can see the village Corippo on the left side of the hill which has been perfectly preserved and protected at a national level. Its population today is only 12 and it is the smallest municipality in Switzerland! Another lovely stop is at the very end of the valley, in Sonogno, with more beautifully preserved stone houses. One of the best photo location is in Lavertezzo. You can walk down to the river from the Roman bridge. This view is a favourite showing the green river and the village in the background.
